Protect the Lake!
The purpose of the Lake Opechee Preservation Association is to preserve, protect, and enhance the quality of the Lake and its surrounding environment for the collective interests of the members and the community and to support sound land-use practices in and around Lake Opechee, including watershed areas.

The Association provides a forum for residents to raise concerns and become aware of the problems. Overall activities of the Association are aimed at protecting the water and shoreline and educating the public. Association activities include monitoring lake water quality and aquatic pests, acting as a watchdog for activities around the shoreline, and doing community education. We need your help, please join us today!

We also want people using Opechee to have FUN! To that end, we help with things like the 4th of July boat parade and the waterski slalom course. Through our news page and the LOPA page on Facebook, we help facilitate communications between lake users.

About Lake Opechee
Lake Opechee is located directly downstream from Paugus Bay and Lake Winnipesaukee, and it connects by a one-mile segment of the Winnipesaukee River through the center of Laconia to Winnisquam Lake.

The level of Lake Opechee is maintained at a relatively constant level throughout the year through a combination of hydroelectric energy generation and a system of automated leaf gates along the crest of the Avery Dam in Lakeport.
