A Great Day on Opechee

LOPA volunteers had a perfect day to perform water quality testing. Calm wind, blue skies and wonderful temps! What's better than summer on the Lake?

LOPA has participated in the New Hampshire (NH) Department of Environmental Services (DES) Volunteer Lake Assessment Program (VLAP) for a number of years, sampling throughout the summer months. LOPA's sampling routine consists of "deep spot" testing for water clarity and quality. This year we are also beginning to test for invasive spiny water fleas. The data we accumulate will allow scientists to profile the health of the lake and identify water quality trends over time. You can see recent results and analysis in our information center!

These activities are all supported, in part, by the dues paid by LOPA members. Why not renew your annual membership right now? That way you'll stay up-to-date with Lake happenings and help contribute to LOPA's mission to preserve, protect, and enhance the quality of the Lake and its surrounding environment.
