This year's 4th of July LOPA Boat Parade was a smashing success! Over 2 dozen boats participated in our slow loop around the lake--our best turnout yet. And the fabulous weather didn't hurt either! It was great to see all our Opechee neighbors cheering us along from the shore. Thanks to the LOPA volunteer organizers for making this annual tradition happen.

Our loon couple, tentatively named Opie and Chee, have once again produced offspring on Opechee! Last year, for the first time in recent years, Opie and Chee raised a single chick on the lake. This spring, the Loon Preservation Committee (LPC) again set up a nesting raft in the north end of the lake, and again, our local love birds produced. This time, TWO chicks! One chick seemed to have had a bit of navigational trouble early on and was found wandering alone on the lake by Steve Benz, LOPA...

Decorate your watercraft in red, white, and blue, pile in the kids, and join us for a ceremonial lap around the lake in honor of our country’s 250th birthday! Meeting at the north end of the lake, we will make a counterclockwise slow lap around Lake Opechee with horns and whistles to the cheers of the crowd on the shore. All are welcome to join! If it rains and the fireworks are delayed, the boat parade will be rescheduled to the same date as the rescheduled fireworks! Take pictures and send...
